2007 Men's Retreat
Minnesota Men Seek Baptism of the Holy Spirit
On the weekend of April 20-22, Men from all over Minnesota gathered once again at Lake Beauty Bible Camp for the 13th annual Minnesota Christian Men's Retreat. Cheri Peters spoke powerfully to the men about victory in Jesus as she shared her testimony, about how God's love found her, forgave her, and brought her out of a life of abuse and drugs, and led her into a worldwide ministry for people suffering with addictions. The men were encouraged and their faith was strengthened to believe that no matter what our addictions may be, there is forgiveness and victory through the power of the Holy Spirit. She showed from the Bible and the writings of Ellen White the importance of asking for and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. And Saturday night, many of the men postponed their volleyball and basketball games and stayed after the evening meeting for an anointing service conducted by Cheri, Pastor Mayberry, and Pastor Kobliska. Individually the men were anointed as their friends joined in praying that they might receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit for victory in their lives.
Sabbath afternoon, the men were also blessed as Shawn and Rachelle Ellis shared their insights into family finance from a Biblical perspective. Then Dan Jensen shared his testimony of how he had learned through a near death experience the importance of being connected to the right power source. "We often settle for 110 when we could be connected to 220," Dan said, holding up a 220 power chord for emphasis. Jesus is our only real power source.
